SETTING THE STAGE provides a unique program of professional actor's training for Film, Commercials, TV and Stage in the Charlotte, NC area. Classes, workshops, summer camps and private instruction for children, teens and adults are offered for every experience level. Classes are held at Theatre Charlotte for children and teens and Myers Park Baptist Church for adults.
Studio Actor's Performance Classes are held every fall and winter and culminate in an Actor's Showcase, which is attended by agents, casting directors and film makers. The mission of Setting the Stage is: To provide personalized actor's training that develops the individual actor's unique talent, and furnishes opportunities to be seen by industry professionals.
Meet Helen Kearney Konen!
Owner / director of Setting the Stage, Helen Kearney Konen, has been acting, directing and coaching for thirty years. She was trained in California in Method Acting by Mathias Reitz, one of Lee Strasberg's actors in the early days of the Actor's Studio. She has a B.A. in Theatre Arts from California State University Long Beach.
She writes, directs and produces two Actor's Showcases a year at Theatre Charlotte. She is a monologue and scene writer and private acting coach. Her actors have won numerous awards in competitions in the southeast and act in feature and independent films, television, commercials and stage productions. She is a member of the Charlotte Film Community.
